"Dream a Little Dream" of Me!

Anyone who knows me knows that I love to read. Like many before me and many after me, my favourites are the Harry Potter books, and I do enjoy a good mystery-thriller (Gone Girl, anyone?), but I have to say I really am partial to a good bit of chick-lit. A romantic and fun easy-read is what I'll usually tend towards, being the kind of person who wants to read a whole book in one sitting.

I am such a fan of Giovanna Fletcher, as a person, as a blogger/vlogger and as an author. I think she's wonderful and Dream a Little Dream is a gem of a story:

"Sarah is doing just fine. Sure she's been single for the last five years, and has to spend an uncomfortable amount of time around her ex-boyfriend, his perfect new girlfriend and all their mutual friends. And yes, her job as a PA to one of the most disgusting men in London is mind-numbingly tedious and her career is a constant disappointment to her mother. But it's really okay. She's happy (ish).
So it's not surprising that when Sarah starts dreaming about a handsome stranger, she begins to look forward to falling asleep every night. Reality isn't nearly as exciting. That is until her dream-stranger makes an unexpected real-life appearance, leaving Sarah questioning everything she thought she wanted.
Because no one ever really finds the person of their dreams... do they?"

I have to say, I didn't initially find Sarah a particularly likeable character. I don't know why, I just found her to be bottling too much up and she was kind of annoying... However, I did think that it worked well with the story, which saw her develop into a better person, into someone that I was actually willing to get everything that her heart ever desired!

While the idea that the handsome stranger from her dreams turning up in her real life was kind of predictable, it was definitely an interesting story, making for some awkward and enjoyable encounters, as well as some really sweet moments from a blossoming pairing. This sweet storyline concept was one which I can honestly say I had not read before, never having read a book which brought a dream man to life.

As far as supporting characters go, there's some real stinkers (I mean, a bastard of a boss and your typical office-bitch, bulking out the story but still delectably hate-able), but also some absolute gems (Carly seems like she'd be the kind of girl that I would absolutely adore to spend time with, In fact, I wish she was real and my best friend)! There's some shocking twists and turns with the supporting characters that enhanced my desire to never put the book down!

On a side-note, Gi, I loved your shameless plug of hubbie Tom and your favourite dish from Wagamama, Chicken Katsu Curry! As a fan, it really made me smile!

Overall, I think it's a really lovely story, well brought together and delivered by a fantastic author!
Anyone after an easy read, I would totally recommend Dream to you, as well at Gi's other books billy and Me (my personal favourite), Christmas with Billy and Me, and You're the One that I Want (actually my least favourite of all four, yet still great)!

Dream a Little Dream is published by Penguin and is available from all good booksellers, as well as for Kindle and iBooks.
